The most effective safety campaigns don’t simply inform—they inspire people to change behaviour. Developed for the FCAI, the Side-by-Side Safety campaign combined strategic storytelling with contemporary visual communication to encourage safer operation of Side-by-Side Vehicles while creating a consistent national safety message across multiple platforms.
Freelance contract via FUPHY MEDIA GROUP.
Safety messages are only effective when people remember them at the moment they matter most. This campaign translated technical safety advice into a compelling visual language that encouraged responsible vehicle use while creating a consistent communication platform across television, digital media, social channels and educational resources.
CASE STUDY
The Problem
The FCAI and Australia’s leading Side-by-Side Vehicle manufacturers required a national campaign to promote safer vehicle operation and increase awareness of essential safety practices. The challenge was to communicate critical safety information in a way that was engaging, memorable and relevant to both recreational and commercial users. The campaign centred on five key safety behaviours: wearing a helmet, using seatbelts, keeping doors and nets closed, avoiding overloading and riding to the conditions.

The Insight
People rarely change behaviour because they’re given more information—they change when the message is simple, relevant and easy to remember. The campaign needed to simplify complex safety advice into clear behavioural prompts that users could immediately recognise and apply.

The Idea
Develop a contemporary creative platform that made safety messages visually engaging without compromising credibility. The campaign used strong visual storytelling and consistent messaging to create a recognisable identity that could work seamlessly across television, digital advertising, social media, educational resources and dealership communications.

The Execution
I led the creative direction for the campaign, developing the overarching visual concept, campaign identity and supporting creative assets across television, digital advertising, social media, educational materials and online communications. Every touchpoint was designed to reinforce the core safety messages while ensuring consistency across the national rollout and participating manufacturers.

The Outcome
The result was a cohesive national safety campaign that provided the FCAI and its member manufacturers with a scalable communication platform capable of supporting ongoing education and public awareness. The creative system established a consistent visual language that continues to reinforce responsible Side-by-Side Vehicle operation across Australia.
